ANNOUNCEMENTS:
WOW SIGNS Those of you who have WOW signs displayed in your yards can remove them for the summer months (that’ll make it easier for mowing your lawn), store them in your garage and/or basement and kindly put them back out in September when WOW will resume. Beginning May 12th is our Wednesday evening Summer Worship Service at 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary. It will continue through Labor Day weekend. See you then!
“BEYOND THE YELLOW RIBBON” Our military service men and women and their families sacrifice their day to day lives to help fight for our freedom and human rights. Let’s do something for them in return. Members of Luther Memorial Church can be part of this ministry to help veterans and their families during and after deployment. This is a real need in our community.
Please consider being a part of it. Questions may be addressed to Roger Schwagmeyer 651-455-0428 or Pastor Sean 651 451-2400. Watch for ongoing meetings that will be published in the weekly bulletins and newsletters.
WALL OF OUR MILITARY HEROES BOARD Susan Pugh is updating the Heroes Board in the Social Hall. We will only have pictures and information on our heroes (sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews and neighbors), if you supply us with that information. Therefore, please contact Susan at (651) 455-5016, tuepughs@msn.com or leave your information in the church office marked to the attention of Susan Pugh. May our heroes be blessed to know that we care.
SHARE YOUR TALENTS! God has blessed each and every one of us with special gifts and talents. Please consider sharing them with our youth of all ages … that means babies up to high-school seniors. Here are some ideas for you to prayerfully consider helping with: Sunday School Teacher, Confirmation Guide, WOW volunteer, nursery helper, chaperoning a youth event (either for kids in 4-6 grade or 7–12 grade), leading a special event for example cooking or making cards, being a driver for confirmation outings, listening to children recite monthly Bible Verses and more. Our youth need all of us. Remember the old saying … it takes a village to raise a child. That can translate into meaning it takes a whole congregation to develop a young person’s faith. Thank you in advance. Please contact Kay Therres at (651-457-0671) or by email sktherres@google.com our Sunday School Superintendent and Chair of the Youth Ministry Team if interested, or sign up on the bulletin board outside the nursery.
AUDIO/VIDEO VOLUNTEERS FOR WOW Teenagers and Young Adults are extremely adept in working with all of the latest technologies in today’s world. Therefore, we’re hoping that some of you can help with our WOW technology set-up. Training on LMC’s equipment will occur and is quite simple for people of your skills. Please contact the office to let us know that you are willing to help: lmc@luther-memorial.com or 651-451-2400. Thank you!
HAS YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER CHANGED? If your telephone number has changed in the last few years, please be sure to let the church office know. Many folks have dropped their land lines and are strictly using their cell phones. It’s a good way to save money, but please don’t forget to inform the church so that your membership records can be updated.
We hope to have a new updated church directory for your use in the near future. Thank you.
E-MAIL ADDRESSES Many of you have computers either at home or at work. Please send us your e-mail addresses. All you need to do is put it: SUBJECT: Address
… and we’ll do the rest. It would be a great way for us to communicate with you quickly and cost effectively. So the next time you’re sitting at your computer, remember LMC. It takes less than a minute. Thanks!
COLLECTING ALUMINUM POP CANS We want to support families and their children by investing $50 in the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA for each child that is baptized at LMC. The $50 is in the child’s name and matures when they turn 18. To keep replenishing the funds available for this mission, the Mission & Growth Team has decided to collect aluminum cans. A marked container is available outside next to the Bell Tower. Please continue to bring in those empty cans to help contribute toward “Mission 4 Kidz Future”.
MEALS ON WHEELS STILL IN NEED OF YOUR HELP!!!!!! We need substitute volunteers as well as regular drivers to help every 4th Thursday for a few hours. It is a very small commitment of time for a very important program! Please call Corinne Dahl at 651-455-5971 if you can help. Thanks!
MEALS FOR SENIORS AT DAKOTA HEIGHTS Enjoy one hot meal a day (Monday – Friday) for only $3.50 each! It’s part of the Dakota Heights CAP Agency Senior Dining Program. You can call 651-552-9136 to register and/or call in your reservation at least (2) days in advance. You can eat it there or take it to go!
CARDS Get well and birthday postal cards will be placed in a basket on the Kiosk for your use. Names and birthdates are in the bulletin so please remember our shut-ins, college students and military personnel. They love to get mail. Postal cards postage is now 28 cents. Thank you!
RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES Want to help LMC and the environment? There are marked boxes in the coatroom at the church for the following items: · Used printer cartridges · Used cell phones
PRAYER CHAIN Did you know that you can call Mary at the church office (451-2400) and we can put you on our prayer list? God listens to all prayers. They may not be answered the way we want, but we always receive strength for each day.
Should you be interested in praying for others and becoming a “Prayer Partner,” contact Corinne Dahl at 455-5971 or Jean Kandt at 455-5528.
