CAKE DECORATING CONTEST
Calling all cake bakers! The annual cake decorating contest will take place on Sunday May 23rd. Please get your ideas ready. The cakes will be judged and then used as prizes for the cake walk.
ALL CHURCH PICNIC
Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 23. This is the day for the picnic which will take place after the 10:45 service. Lemonade and hotdogs will be provided; the rest is a potluck. The cake decorating contest will take place that day along with crazy hair, face painting, and card making. The whole congregation is invited. It should be a fun time.
WALK FOR THE CURE – MAY 23rd
As many of you know, I, Patricia Dunlop, was recently diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Two of my sisters have that disease and two members of the next generation are being checked. I want to do what I can to erase this terrible disease. I will be doing a walk on Sunday, May 23rd and I’m trying to raise funds to help find the cure. IF you would like to join me in the fight against this terrible disease, please contact me at 651-455-4439. Donations and/or suggestions may be brought to the church office and marked as “Walk for the Cure.” Thank you for your consideration. Patricia Dunlop
The Social Ministry Team would like to put together a gift bag from our congregation to each of our (12) graduating high school seniors. Anyone wishing to donate items may drop them off in the church office by Wednesday, June 2nd. Please include your name with your donation. If you have questions or need ideas, contact a member of the Social Ministry Team. Thank you!
KAPOSIA DAYS
The parade is being held on Friday, June 25, 2010 and starts at 6:30 p.m. We are looking for a simple way to take part in this community outreach. We welcome your ideas (doesn’t have to be part of the parade) or your willingness to plan something for this day. We need to inform the city by June1st to let them know what we would like to do for Kaposia Days. Talk to Bonnie Daniels, Gene Letendre or Carol Bidwell.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
This year’s Christmas Program will be “Christmas Around the World.” During the month of July, we invite Sunday School students and interested adults to come to church ½ hour early (Christmas in July) to learn and practice foreign-language songs to be used in the Program. If you would like to provide some Christmas cookies for Social Hour in July, contact Verna (651-455-0428) or Anna (651-457-5017).
SUMMER VBS
August 1-4, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights. Please join us for an out-of-this-world adventure. Registration begins this month. Hope to see you all there.
SUMMER 2010 MISSION TRIP FUNDRAISERS – PHASE 2
Pastor Sean is leading a group of (7) people down to Rockford, IL to work in, on and around houses in low-income neighborhoods the week of July 18-24. They are in Phase (2) of their fundraising efforts this month:
· M&M’s – Please take container(s) filled with M&M’s, eat the M&M’s, replace them with quarters and return the money-filled containers to the church.
· Gas Can: There is a small red gas container next to the donuts in the Social Hall on Sunday mornings. Members are invited to toss money into the gas can for “gas money” to drive to Illinois.
· Outback Steakhouse: On May 22, we invite you to enjoy a delicious steak meal for the cost of $16 ($6 goes to Outback and $10 goes to the Mission Trip fund). Tickets are on sale now!
