AND THE CHILI COOK-OFF WINNERS ARE . . .
Thank you to all who participated in the “Great Chili Cook-off Competition” on Sunday, January 29th. It proved to be a culinary success with all of the different types of chili prepared by fellow LMC cooks. Thanks to the tantalizing chili creations served up with a smile, we took in $225 towards scholarships for our Youth. Wow! That’s a mouthful! Now . . . as promised . . . listed below are the top (3) winners: Returning Champions in First Place – Bill & Karen Schmidt; Second Place – Don & Carol Bidwell; Third Place – James Jasper. Congratulations to our chefs.
THIRD ANNUAL BEACH PARTY CARNIVAL/RAFFLE/
CHILI COOK-OFF EXTRAVAGANZA
A huge thank you to everyone who came to the Beach Party Carnival/Raffle/Chili Cook-Off in January to help support our Youth! Also, thank you to everyone who donated money and items toward the raffle tables. We took in $836 for our youth ministry! Your generosity is greatly appreciated! Thank you to all the youth who helped with the carnival…you all did an awesome job!
GRUB & GRUBBY SUNDAY
“LET THE SUNSHINE IN!”
Wow! When we mention “Spring Clean-up” at our church home, lots of people come out to help! It was a beautiful day to work outdoors and indoors. The inside shines all over from the windows to the pews and the outside saw volunteers removing everything from leaves to entire trees. The courtyard on the south side of the church has been opened up for more “outdoor” summer worship opportunities and a much “brighter” atmosphere in the office . . . let the sunshine in! Thank you volunteers! Great job!
SAVE THE TREES
As the progress on the Senior Housing project moves along, so do two of our red maple trees that were donated to LMC as a memorial over 15 years ago. Recently we had them moved from the North side of the church to the South side of the church. God has created and nurtured these trees so that generation after generation can enjoy them through the years. We just helped things along a little by moving them out of harms way. Now every time we have an outdoor worship service, you can sit and admire their beauty as you sing praise to God.
PIPE ORGAN DEDICATION CONCERT MADE MUSICAL HISTORY
Those attending the Pipe Organ Dedication Concert on Sunday, November 7 enjoyed the musical talents of Eric Larson and Brock Besse as they masterfully played the organ, piano and accompanied the South St. Paul Choralettes and Male Chorus during several Mass Choir selections. A slide show presentation of the Organ Project was narrated by Eric Larson explaining the vision of the church’s hope for a pipe organ 50 years ago to the completion of its vision today. Pastor Wally Obinger led the community in prayer to bless the Pipe Organ during a meaningful dedication ceremony. The Organ Committee presented Eric with a plaque for all of his help on the project. Following the concert, attendees were able to enjoy refreshments and more musical entertainment from Brock on the piano in the Social Hall. It was a wonderfully entertaining and memorable event for all who attended.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!
Build a Holy Place – The Travels of Paul allowed people of all religions to come together to experience and learn what it was like for the Disciple Paul as he traveled with Jesus. We thank God for the many willing workers it took to make Antioch 49 A.D. a reality . . . so many of you from Luther Memorial . . . and everyone who came, baked bars, helped with the snacks, feast, and other aspects of this year’s Vacation Bible School. May God bless your experience. Tell others about it!
CAMP ONOMIA IS A HIT WITH THE KIDS!
Summer camp isn’t all fun and games, but it sure feels like it! Several youth enjoyed some “life enriching” moments while taking in nature’s beauty. It’s definitely a growing experience for all involved.
ANNUAL CRAFT & BAKE SALE WORKS WONDERS!
The October Annual Craft & Bake Sale is becoming a much anticipated event for the community. The turnout this year was larger than past years and the profits prove it! The halls were full of home made goodies and crafts that provided quite a variety from which to select that special treasure. Perhaps next October, you may want to add Luther Memorial’s Craft & Bake Sale to your list of events to attend. You won’t be disappointed.
