SWEETHEART DINNER

A huge thank you to everyone who came to the Sweetheart Dinner! We were able to raise $683 for our youth ministry! We would also like to thank The Grace Notes Trio…their entertainment was awesome, and was enjoyed by all! A special thank you to Karen and Jessica Higgins for making the delicious spaghetti, Pat Nelson for making the yummy cake, Jolene Pugh for making the beautiful door prizes and helping out at the dinner and with set-up, and all of the youth for your hard work at the dinner…you all did a fantastic job! Also, thank you to the parents who helped out during the dinner, as well…you are greatly appreciated!

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

A wonderful time was had by all at Family Fun Night the last Wednesday in January!  We had a great time playing volleyball, Bingo (with prizes), Guitar Hero, enjoying a wonderful meal of hot dogs and Sloppy Joes served by the Social Ministry Team, and watching the movie Ratatouille on the big screen in the sanctuary!  We look forward to doing this again and seeing lots more of you enjoying Game Night at LMC!

LMC’S 2008 CHURCH COUNCIL

Our new Church Council members were installed recently during worship services. We look forward to a great year and appreciate the commitment that these (9) people have volunteered to partake in for the good of Luther Memorial Church and its members. Feel free to contact any one of these council members for comments and/or suggestions to help us succeed in our mission of “Living Christ’s Love”.

COMMUNITY CRIME AWARENESS MEETING

In April, a Community Event about Crime and Families was hosted at Luther Memorial Church.  Dakota County Attorney Jim Backstrom, the SSP Police Department, the Minnesota Gang Task Force, SSP Restorative Justice and the SSP Healthy Youth Community Coalition presented information about gangs, graffiti and ways to strengthen our youth, families and community to prevent our youth from participating in gang activity and graffiti. Luther Memorial cares about the people and future of South St. Paul.

LMC’S NEW SIGN

Our new church sign is up and working for us already!  What a wonderful way to inform our members as well as the community on upcoming events, worship services and well wishes given on behalf of Luther Memorial Church.  Thank you to our Facilities Team for all of your hard work on this major undertaking!  It has definitely caught the eye of passers by and will give us all much enjoyment for many years to come!

Sunday School Picnic/BBQ                                                             Kaposia Days Parade

IT’S BEEN A BUSY QUARTER!

If you were to stop by Luther Memorial Church any time throughout the day, you would probably discover that there is always something going on . . . could it be that the ladies are setting the tables and displaying the teapots for the Annual Ladies & Young Ladies Spring Tea, or perhaps the delicious aroma of pheasant basting in the oven in preparation of the Wild Game Dinner draws you in, or the sounds of cheering coming from the Social Hall during the Minnow Races, but then again . . . it could be the excitement of finding that special treasure at the Annual Rummage Sale, or perhaps the laughter of children playing games during the Sunday School Picnic/BBQ or maybe it’s the pre-parade preparation work by some of the members getting ready to march in the Kaposia Days Parade.  Whenever you find yourself stopping by Luther Memorial Church, there’s always something to get involved with and/or excited about.  Stop in and see for yourself!  You’re always welcome!

EASTER BREAKFAST WAS A GLORIOUS EVENT

A HUGE Thank you to all of the youth and parents who helped out at the Easter Breakfast for doing such a wonderful job and helping the breakfast to be such a success!  A special thank you to Harlan Kopp and Bill Scherado for all of their hard work and time spent organizing and implementing our new menu, as well as making all of the food!  You are all greatly appreciated!  Also, thank you to everyone who came to the Easter Breakfast – our youth are blessed by your generous support.  We served approximately 225 people, and were able to raise $1009.44 for our youth ministry.  We will also receive $350 from Thrivent Financial.  Thanks again, everyone!

ST. PATRICK’S DAY DINNER FILLED US UP!

Many thanks to those involved in the St. Patrick’s Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner. It was very well attended by various church and community members. The food was great, the music was inviting and the green cupcakes and decorations really topped off the evening with a bit of “Irish” celebration of our own here at LMC. Thanks to all who participated and helped to make this year’s St. Pat’s Dinner a very successful event!

HOPE YOU’RE HUNGRY!

Wow!  Lots of hunters took home lots of birds!  Shown above is the group of 31 hunters that participated in the “Hunt for Mission” on Saturday, March 4 in Miesville, Minnesota. They’re bringing in their “birds” (ready-to-eat) for the Pheasant/Wild Game Dinner on Sunday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. Obviously they know how to “bring home the pheasant”!  See you there!
