LMC’S 2010 CHURCH COUNCIL

Our new Church Council members were installed at the January 10th worship services. We look forward to a great year and appreciate the commitment that these (9) people have volunteered to partake in for the good of Luther Memorial Church and its members. Feel free to contact any one of these council members for comments and/or suggestions to help us succeed in our mission of “Living Christ’s Love”.

SUMMER BIBLE CAMP

During the week of June 9th, LMC hosted the Summer Bible Camp for children throughout our community.  We had (16) registrants who spent their days singing, making crafts, playing outdoor games, doing skits, learning about Bible stories, etc., etc.  It was a lot of fun for everyone involved.  There were (2) Day Camp Counselors and (1) Counselor in training to keep the energy level high and the children busy.  It was a wonderful week to hear the sounds of laughter and children’s voices echoing through the halls of LMC.

SENIOR RECOGNITION SUNDAY

LMC honored the (11) graduating seniors from the Class of 2008 with a special worship service and gift bags full of all sorts of both practical and fun items for them to use.  After worship, everyone was invited into our Social Hall for delicious cake, coffee and lemonade in their honor.  Best of luck to the Class of 2008!

BEACH PARTY CARNIVAL / RAFFLE / CHILI COOK-OFF

There’s never a lack of excitement at this event!  Games and prizes for the kids, several tantalizing types of chili for your taste buds and last, but not least, lots of raffle prizes for folks to competitively cheer over.  This annual event gets the whole church involved and then some.  It normally takes place in April to kick-off the upcoming Spring season and warmer temperatures.

HUNT FOR MISSION

If you enjoy pheasant hunting, you would enjoy this event.  Several hunters come together for a common cause – to help raise funds for our Mlandege, Tanzania sister parish.  Then, after the hunting is over, they clean their birds and share them with the congregation a month or so later at our Wild Game Dinner with all of the fixin’s.

A special thank you to Karen and Jessica Higgins for making the delicious spaghetti, Pat Nelson for making the yummy cake, Jolene Pugh for making the beautiful door prizes and helping out at the dinner and with set-up, and all of the youth for your hard work at the dinner…you all did a fantastic job! A wonderful time was had by all at Family Fun Night the last Wednesday in January!  We had a great time playing volleyball, Bingo (with prizes), Guitar Hero, enjoying a wonderful meal of hot dogs and Sloppy Joes served by the Social Ministry Team, and watching the movie Ratatouille on the big screen in the sanctuary!  We look forward to doing this again and seeing lots more of you enjoying Game Night at LMC!

EASTER BREAKFAST WAS A GLORIOUS EVENT

A HUGE Thank you to all of the youth and parents who helped out at the Easter Breakfast for doing such a wonderful job and helping the breakfast to be such a success!  A special thank you to Harlan Kopp and Bill Scherado for all of their hard work and time spent organizing and implementing our new menu, as well as making all of the food!  You are all greatly appreciated!  Also, thank you to everyone who came to the Easter Breakfast – our youth are blessed by your generous support.  We served approximately 225 people, and were able to raise $1009.44 for our youth ministry.  We will also receive $350 from Thrivent Financial.  Thanks again, everyone!
