VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES |

VISITATION AND COMMUNION SERVING Shut-ins often only have connection with their churches through newsletters and cards; therefore, have no sense of belonging to a church family, no sense of community. It takes more than a Pastor visit to make a Shut-in feel part of church; that is where we lay people come in. In visiting, if you see that a Shut-in can help the church community in some way, let them know that. Can they pray for our church, make phone calls, write letters of encouragement to others, and knit or crochet, etc.?
The Pastoral Care Team needs more lay people to help serve. We would like to have teams of people visiting and serving communion. So far, we only have one team and one individual serving. We will gladly train new people. A sign-up sheet is on the kiosk. We will contact you for training.
SOUND SYSTEM VOLUNTEER NEEDED It’s just for Sunday mornings and only requires changing (1) dial during the service. Jim Jasper will show you what to do. It’s not complicated at all. If you’re interested, please tell Pastor Wally, Pastor Mike or Jim that you’re willing to give it a try. Thanks!
PASTORAL CARE TEAM A position on the team is open for the Shut-In Care Coordinator dealing with Visiting and Communion scheduling. Elaine Clausen has joined the team and is calling our Shut-Ins to check in and visit with them on a regular basis via the telephone. Keeping in touch with our Shut-Ins by calling, visiting and giving communion is so important. We are bound together by our faith and many years of fellowship at Luther Memorial Church. Think about it. Is this open position a “calling” for you? Please contact Esther Schaus for additional information regarding this opportunity (651-457-8639).
COMMUNION HELPERS Help is needed before and after every communion service at Luther Memorial. The work of setting up for communion and the clean-up afterwards is not difficult. It just takes many hands for everything to work smoothly. If you can help just once or twice during the year, you will be blessed. Contact Judy Larson at 451-2067 for more information.
PARISH NURSES WANTED Our Parish Nurses are resigning effective December 31, 2006 and we are desperately in need of volunteers to fill the needs of such an important position. Please contact the office at 651-451-2400 if interested. |
